Niku Jaga (Japanese Meat & Potato Stew)

Because of the microwave reflectors baked onto the donabe, you can enjoy this delicious simmered food in no time!!

Ingredients

★ cooking times may vary depending on your microwave's wattage, brand and size.

Directions

    1. Cut 1 potato into 8 pieces, cut carrots into 1 cm thick, slice onion in 1 cm thick. 
    2. Cut the meat into easy-to-eat pieces and mix with the sake & soy sauce marinade mixture.
    3. Put cut vegetables and dashi stock into the Donabe, microwave for 4 min. *1
    4. Remove the Donabe from the microwave, spread thinly sliced meat on top. *2
    5. Place paper towel  on top of the ingredients, cover with the lid and cook for 2min.
    6. Remove the Donabe from the microwave, remove the kitchen towel and mix well.
    7. Cover with the lid, and let it sit for at least 10 min. *3
    *1 For dashi stock, Kombu dashi is used in the original recipe, but you can use "dash powder" from a store and mix with water. You can purchase Dashi Powder at most of the Asian markets. *2 You can use beef or pork, but make sure the meat is thinly sliced *3 Add the boiled snap peas as you like.
