★ The amount of ingredients and heating time are measured for 1 ~ 2 people.

Ingredients

★ cooking times may vary depending on your microwave's wattage, brand and size.

Directions

  1. Put the rice into the Microwave Donabe, then add enough tap water to cover the rice.

  2. Rinse the rice with your hand, then discard the water. (water will look like white/milky color)

  3. Repeat step 1 and 2 a few more times. (2~3 times: water color should be almost clear)

  4. Make sure the rinsed rice is well drained.

  5. Add 200ml of clean water to the donabe.

  6. put the lid on and soak the rice for at least 30 min.

  7. Cover and heat the Donabe at 50% setting for 8min in the microwave.

  8. Change the power setting to 20% and cook for additional 8 min.

  9. Let it sit for 10 min or so ( DO NOT open the lid)

Placing the Donabe on a heat-resistant plate is recommended. ( it might boil over) When you cook for 2 cups of rice, use 400ml of water. Cover and heat the Donabe for 10 min at 50% level, then change the level to 20% and cook another 8 min. Let it sit for about 10 min. (DO NOT open the lid)

Hi, I'm June Voss, CEO of the company, a wife to an amazing husband whom I met while working at Walt Disney World and a mother of 2 wonderful children ( and 2 dogs, 11 goats and 3 rescued feral cats). I was born and raised in Japan. I would love to share delicious Japanese foods, culture and everything I love about the beautiful country.  I am not a professional chef, I just love cooking! I have translated and added some of the recipes I like, but once you've cooked a few of these dishes, you'll soon be able to cook almost anything in your Microwave Donabe. I hope you enjoy it and can't wait to hear & see your own Donabe creations!
