Easy and Juicy Microwave Hamburger Steak(with Japanese Style Sauce)

These hamburger steaks are super juicy and full of flavor. You can add cheese inside or on the top of the patties. You can change up the sauce by adding/mixing your favorite condiments to create your sauce. This dish is very popular at home and at restaurants in Japan. It's usually cooked in a frying pan, but with this Microwave Donabe, you can still make a delicious & juicy hamburger steak easily, quickly and mess-free! The secret key point  is putting all the ingredients in a ziplock bag and mixing them. I added my original sauce in this recipe. You can cook this recipe in less than 15 min!!

Ingredients

★ cooking times may vary depending on your microwave's wattage, brand and size

Directions

  1. Place ground beef, panko bread crumbs, milk (or water), chicken bouillon, salt & pepper, and egg in a ziplock bag and mix well.

  2. Make 2~3 patties and place them in the Donabe. ***1

  3. Without the lid, microwave the Donabe with the patties inside for 3~4 minutes. ***2

  4. Combine ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, Korean BBQ sauce, and soy sauce to make a sauce.

  5. Remove any excess fat from the Donabe (if necessary).

  6. Pour the sauce (from step 4) over the patties and heat without the lid for 20 seconds. *** 3

    ***1... You can make 3 smaller patties or make 2 larger patties. ***2... Please adjust the cooking time if the patties are not cooked through. (add 30 seconds at a time to avoid over cooking the patties) ***3... If you cook it too long, the sauce might bubble out. Please adjust the cooking time. (If your microwave has the power level setting, heat at 60% for 1 min)

    I just tried this recipe tonight and it was/is delicious! I substituted the water with teriyaki sauce to get a “head start” on the flavor. I think it paid off! It’s kind of like “Asian Meatloaf”(?) (I mean that with all respect..)
    Thank you for my Donabe Pot! I consider it a Christmas gift, and I think it’s terrific.
